l’amore di tre drag kings

Sopranos Deborah Voigt and Patricia Racette and mezzo-soprano Susan Graham made their drag king debut on Sunday night, and for once the gender confusion has nothing to do with Rufus Wainwright. The trio of songstresses donned tuxes for a spoof of the Three Tenors at a gala honoring Placido Domingo‘s 40th anniversary at the Met. The ladies quickly stripped down to “shimmering gowns in which they delivered the aria ‘Nessun Dorma’ that was a signature piece for The Three Tenors.” Photo by Ken Howard, Metropolitan Opera. VERY funny 3rd… very funny.
Um, rukidn, you can relax now. And what about that picture says “slender” to you?
BTW, this was at a party in celebration of Mr. Domingo’s career. I’m sure he and everyone else had a great time and enjoyed the fun.
Call me Pollyanna (“Je m’appelle Pollyanna”), but this just makes me happy to be part of the variable, sometimes-earnest-sometimes-frivolous commonwealth that is opera.
correct me if I’m wrong, but am I seeing susan’s black thong under her gown?
thanks for your continued interest, YOU obviously enjoy this drek.
IF we had a season that remotely had serious opera in it with voive being considered above all, THIS might be a cute diversion for the rotting corpse that refuses to retire. Ole Placido will be carried screaming ……perhaps he is going.
Or was that just his high notes.
Slender is the rule of the day. “gasps” from the audience over the beauty of the …….face. Isabel Lenard, amateur, lazy vocalist, but hey, she’s pretty. GAG Schrott too, any worse a singer that successful, oh wait, yeah he is the brando……right!
Relax yourself there Crazmo. I am completely relaxed, bordering on comotose for the lack of real vocal fire these days.
rukidn: Not worth it…
3rdNorn: Hilarious, congratulations.
HA! Move on Crazmo, you are out of your depth.
Honey, I’m just not going to get sucked into the “depth” of your black hole. Obviously no-one is allowed to have a point of view that differs from yours. Be well, enjoy (or not). And I still say you need some Lucille Ball and the Marx Brothers in your life.
You Olders; remember that 50s song: “I see the lights, I see the party lights–they’re red and blue and green..” Reminds me of the signoras in the picture. But what is it with those walkurie chest plates they are wearing?
Ok you remember the French and Saunder’s parody with Sarah Walker?…If they wore these dresses and sang that I for one could die happy lol.
