catch our act at the met
So you doyenne may better know the minds of her cher public, she asks you to participate in the following online poll. Which Metropolitan Opera performances this year do you consider the most sizzling Sternstunden, the not-to-be-missed evenings of musico-dramatic madness, or (to put it another way) those nights when you know everyone will be there? So take your pick, my dears, and remember that you are allowed to select as many as five performances before clicking the “vote” box. The poll is right after the jump.
Questions? Opinions? Predictions? Or just general discussion? The floor is open, cher commenters: what’s the new Met season going to be like?
I had a hard time even picking 5 that I would even WANT to attend.
I voted for 3… Adriana, cause of the Domingo effect, and the il trovatore and the Thais because ive seen them both already in Chicago and you are in for a treat here… Both the sets themselves are reason enough for a ticket… plus Dolora… duh… and if RF is on her best behavior as she was in Chi-town, everything will be fine…Enjoy…
What’s the buzz (if any) on Damnation de Faust? I’ve never seen that staged, but I have always liked it, and I will see it in the HD movie format in November; just wondering if there’s been any hubbub about it. Are Relyea and Giordani up to it?
Is there any new information out there about the LePage ring?
will matilla still show us that her blonde hair is not natural in salome
la gioconda only for podles’s return
Diana Damrau’s role debut in Lucia? C’mon people, you KNOW you’ll be there!!
“Damnation de Faust” is brilliantly directed by Lepage on a multi-tiered stage with projections and amazing effects. I saw it in Paris a couple of years ago, and would see it again with pleasure – will have to make do with the HD cinema showing…
What happened to the Verdi requiem. That should be the best thing the met does this year
I hope Mattila does her splits after the Dance of the Seven Veils. Here’s hoping for big HD close-ups à la Manon Lescaut.
