got a regie in your pocket
Our previous Regie quiz depicted (as Nerva Nelli so quickly guessed) Verdi’s Aida, in a production by Christopher Alden for the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
And now, cher public, our weekly edition of Name that Regie. Remember, if you have seen the production or otherwise recognize the photos, please remain silent while others guess the answer!

First picture: Act I of Grease, conclusion of “Summer Nights”
Second picture: Act IV of La Sonnambula
Third picture: Triumphal scene from Aida.
So my guess is Parsifal. (which means it’s almost certain to be Rake’s Progress)
Fledermaus
1. Mein Herr Marquis
2. An extra-exotic csardas
3. Eisenstein and co.
(I choose to ignore the fact that the shots look like they’re from several different scenes and not one big party.)
Actually, after thinking about it I think I’ve figured out what it is, but it’s only due to a passing encounter with the production, so I won’t say (also, I could be totally wrong!).
OMG Closing ceremonies… Renee Fleming is singing and she looks great…
oh wait…
thats Placido Domingo.
I think it’s obviously an erotic, minimalist BOHEME, Act two:
1. “Questa Mimi”
2. “Quando Men vo”
3. The end of the act (that’s Alidoro off to the side there)
High C’s….so are you saying Domingo looks like Fleming, or that Fleming looks like Domingo.
Something about it says L’Elisir d’amore, although I can’t quite put together which scenes.
It could also be some strange update of The Mikado.
Ariadne auf Naxos…the first photo is Zerbinetta and her marry men.
That’s too easy– I CAVALIERI DI EKEBU.
Okay, 1 and 3 make me say Carmen. Maybe 2 is Lillas Pastia’s pool party.
…oops, I meant MERRY men.
Lohengrin
1. Elsa shows up
2. Ortrud is singing dirty about Elsa- sort of a mirror of all the women at the wedding later
3. Lohengrin gets carried off in the surprise happy ending.
