Any singer who is known as “The Croatian Yma Sumac” you know already has won a place in La Cieca’s deepest heart of hearts. So the astonishing production values of the theatrical experience that is known as Priinceza na zrnu graÅ¡ka can only add to your doyenne’s abject veneration for the one, the only… Zdenka KovaÄiÄek.Â

The second section of it, after the “arm coloratura”, looks like a Sarah Brightman extravaganza. That poor overworked harness!
The third section of it with the chorus in the pit (hell?) singing and then turning around is a hoot.
At the end I thought she was trying to do Bette Davis as a Borg.
So, does anyone think this is ART?
chirp…..chirp…..
chirp…..
jatm, I resents that. I’ve never read the book or seen Lost Horizon.
… and I thought her name was Amy Camus, pron. “moooe”
Lydia: Then you must be channeling Larry Kramer!
Now I know how a hessian bag of ‘drag’ wheat wags its fanny at you at the charity Gala of the Witches Sabbath in some lurid techncolor coven. After drinking too many toad and rat stew cocktails, what else.
Parterre is getting to be a website for Sad performers; RF, woozy Ricciarelli, Zdenka, I think I saw Maria Dragoni in here a while back, and even Dragona Del Monaco. Et al. I think the saddest but great singer I have found on Utube is poor Frehel; fat and a drunk in her old age, but she could Sing and break your heart. Poor Bruna-Rasa is in a class by herself. An interesting diva is my Euro goddess Eva Busch, who supposedly sang in Vegas in thd 70s with Dean Martin! Nothing wrong with that; I wish there were videos of Eva and Dino. No point to this entry; I just wanted to comment on some sad divas I know of.
well…..okaaaaay…….
Crap….and to think that my real name is Zdenek…….
