return of the regie
You can’t get anything past Our Own tannengrin, who almost immediately identified Simon Boccanegra as the subject of the most recent Regie quiz.Â
Now, following the usual reminder NOT to blurt out the answer if you have actually seen the production, here’s another bit of Regie to puzzle over:

La Cieca, there are so many dense and/or attention-starved people reading this blog that you might as well give up these Regie quizzes unless you’re ready to monitor each comment. What a let-down!
Alas, this one got far too much mainstream press…
Crack that whip Cieca!
Well, it’s an opera with small children, bedtime angels, and a roaring fire, so of COURSE it’s… um…
[reviewing spoilers above]
Anybody else think they mighta staged the wrong opera by accident?
I’m so annoyed! Someone already guessed Butterfly.
I love the Mostly Opera blog. It is run by a Danish woman who is extremely sensible, intelligent, and critical about the way she analyzes opera. Her taste in singers is excellent too. She really is a fresh breath of air from all the queens who have nothing better to do than bicker and fire off diatribes against other posters. A highly recommended blog.
I don’t care what anyone says.
I still claim it’s Wozzeck!
I am thinking that is “Lohengrin” and that scary little tyke is the missing Gottfried von Brabant who is haunting the action. I also agree with whoever suggested “Pelleas et Melisande” – that could be little Yniold especially in the middle picture.
The kid and uniforms make me think of Wozzek.
Christian Ocier says: “She really is a fresh breath of air from all the queens who have nothing better to do than bicker and fire off diatribes against other posters.”
So what, pray, keeps you coming back to Parterre Box?
