return of the regie

You can’t get anything past Our Own tannengrin, who almost immediately identified Simon Boccanegra as the subject of the most recent Regie quiz.

Now, following the usual reminder NOT to blurt out the answer if you have actually seen the production, here’s another bit of Regie to puzzle over:

    Damn – someone has already beaten me to wozzek – I’m guessing the kid, Marie in bed, Major/Captain.

  • Charo says:

    I will guess Tristan for the 3 picture opera. #3 shows the shell or whatever it is of Is. after she goes to Heaven to be with T. #2 is I in bed waiting for T while little kid Bran gets the torch ready. # 1 is on the ship with I in her bath. (and the lovers drink the potion out of the bathtub.)

    Wow! English reading comprehension is really going down in this country. Damn, even I knew what “do not blur the answer” means, and English is not my first language.

    Never ceases to amaze me.

    You know, Maltman, Schrott, Gunn, and all the rest won’t be muscle boys forever. What will essentially lyric singers do when they are past Guglielmo, Don Giovanni, Papageno, Billy Budd, etc. in today’s skin obsessed productions?

  • Krunoslav says:

    Don Alfonso and Sharpless.

    And when they can’t sing at all, if they’re British they’ll be hired to sing Thoas in new productions of IPHIGENIE EN TAURIDE at American houses- c.f. Philip Joll in Seattle and William Shimell at the Met.
