    Well.

Magnificent. Plain and simple: magnificent. Thanks La Cieca.

By the way, when did Ms. Norman drop all that weight? I was sure there would be some mention of it somewhere (a la Debbie Voigt) but nothing. She walked on the stage on Thursday, and I gasped!

This “dove sono” is really lovely-I think I’d rather have a singer who is round and glorious than slender and diminished (in both senses.) This isn’t really an attack on Ms Norman (she still has a voice at 62-many, many singers do not.)

Is that Richard Wagner on the back of her caftan?

  • Sanford says:

    Gorgeous.

  • jwbtenor says:

Where is she now? Is she singing opera or just concerts? haven’t heard much about her.

  • jwbtenor says:

    But, wow…. how beautiful. wow….

  • Dr. Lehar says:

    She’s utterly amazing here. Wow.

Is that Jean-Claude Casadesus at the podium?

  • tarandus says:

Why does her face look so oily? And what the hell is she wearing? It looks like the backdrop for a second rate set piece. Seriously, doesn’t she have consultants to help her out? Yes, yes, she sounds glorious and I love her, but still…

WOW I usually prefer “Porgi amor” to this aria, but Ms. Norman just changed that… sounds effortless, but she is pretty moist by the end… Loved it, didnt like the dress tho, esp. the caricatures on the back.

Mark: I believe it’s Wagner in the middle, and Bach on the right.

By the way, my current favorite version of “Dove sono” is that by the indefatigable Wenarto, complete with a wad of cash as a prop!
