“Her steadfast refusal to resist the Pasha” Therefore, she gave in to the Pasha.

One imagines that he fault here lies with the very bright Ms. Schweitzer’s editors having rewritten her prose…

Double negatives are never not a bad idea.

Hmm… Wasn’t Diana Damrau talking, on a recent Met broadcast, about other productions she’d done, in which Konstanze was attracted to the pasha? She did say the character was more interesting that way…

i saw that Entführung production!! (if it is the same) i know it premiered with damrau, although i saw it with a different cast. the regie was by cristof loy (whom i adore and who´s last cosi fan tutte, also in frankfurt is the most beautiful thing i have ever ever seen (5 times LOL) in my life).
Konstanze didn´t “give in” but there was quite a level of sexual tension. but also very subtle. It was a great production too.
