La Cieca has just added a new bit of functionality to the commenting system on parterre.com. As you type your comment into the form box, you will notice that lower on the page there will appear an instant preview of what your comment will look like. This feature is handy for checking spelling, and it gives you the ability to preview formatting. You can also use basic HTML to insert a link into your comment.

OT, but, I will be in orchestra standing room at Fille tonight, if you’re there and see a girl wearing a white skirt with red flowers, stop over and say hi!

Any guesses as to whether JDF will encore “A Mes Amis” tonight? Or any other night? I expect the audience will applaud and applaud hoping for the encore.

Gelb was quoted in yesterday’s Times as saying that the Met has no official policy regarding encores, which may be a hint as to what will happen tonight. Or perhaps not. I had always understood that the Met did have a policy of no encores going back to the 1920′s or so. And at least during the Bing years and for a time afterwards, contracts required singers not to step out of character during the performance to accept applause. Of course, it wasn’t always strictly followed. Caballe, Freni and Pavarotti come to mind as at least gesturing in appreciation. On the other hand, I seem to recall Franco Tagliavini’s contract being terminated after he acknowledged applause after “E Lucevan”. Or at least that was the excuse.

Can it be that our hostess is tired of us spouting off unfilteretted? Is her subtleness trying to get us to think before pressing ‘send’? To consider before we grumble, mutter or screech, depending on the time of day and the mood of the verb machine?

I should think about it but I’m sending anyway.

What a wonderful idea, La C; but then, you do do so much for us already.

    I’m verklempt.

  • Carmen Asada says:

Well the feature doesnt work for me as I usually comment on a MotoQ, but the effort is much appreciated, Cieca.

I hate the verb machine thing, can you turn it off?
