    Gualtier Maldè says:

Just a note that last night, April 29th, Florez yet again encored “Pour mon Ame”. The applause went on and on and the audience wouldn’t stop or let him go. He bowed two or three times, patted his heart and blew kisses. Finally, he nodded to the conductor, the chorus of soldiers repositioned themselves and the encore happened. It was even better the second time with a longer held, prettier final C.

My friend thought that the first rendition was good but not enough for an encore but the audience was determined to make Juan Diego put out. And put out he did. However, I felt that he may have to be careful about doing it all the time because in Act II, his “Pour me rapprocher de Marie” was not quite as good as the dress rehearsal or the Saturday matinee broadcast/transmission. He needs to conserve himself.

    Still, bravo Juan Diego!
