A member of Facebook (which, La Cieca is told, is some kind of Information Superhighway thing that the youngsters seem to enjoy) forwards this invitation to what your doyenne (channeling Andy Samberg channeling Diablo Cody) likes to call Die Bloggerdammerung:

Naomi Weinstock sent a message to the members of New York City Opera.

Please feel free to forward this on to any students you know who might be interested in this very cool opportunity.

La Cieca is confident that, once they correct that misspelling of the word “kewl,” NYCO is definitely (or, rather, “totes”) going to win over the “What the blog are you blogging about, Sonic The Hedgeblog?” crowd.

speaking of city opera, anyone know when their alleged 2008-09 season gets announced?

  • Calaf47 says:

According to the rumors flying around..there will be no NYCO 2008-09 season. They will go “dormant” while the State Theatre is being renovated…and wait til Mortier appears for the 2009-10 season.

  • Berlinfan says:

My understanding was that City Opera was going to try performing in a few venues around town next season–not only because the State Theater will be dark, but also because performing elsewhere is something Mortier wants to do even once they’re back home.

  • whatever says:

calaf47, this is beyonf the rumor stage. it’s been announced by NYCO (contributors got a letter) that they will not be performing in the new york state theater for 2008-09 due to the rennovation schedule. it’s also been announced that NYCO is going to do pretty much what berlinfan said: take the show on the road (or the subway, at least), performing concerts and semi-staged versions at alternate venues around the city.

the specific performances i believe were supposed to have been announced by now … im wondering when we’re actually going to here what’s on.

Oh I’m a gasp…… real girl. I still consider myself to be an opera queen in training ;) In reality I’m to lazy to apply but it would be fun.
