    Stoyanova just did a beautiful job with my aria. I like her too, more that Kovalevska (who was refined and pleasant but not enchanting).

    Herrera did a decent job, though I don’t think it’s a Grade 1 voice. Shame some notes disappeared completely in a couple of phrases!

    yes, krassimira should be a MAJOR STAR! i saw her live twice, the last time as nedda and she is amazing. gorgeous voice, gorgeous figure, great actress too. i just listened to her liu again on CD, and she was the star of the evening. i don’t know how good her coloratura is, but they should give her the belcanto roles they keep pushing on netrebko (let me not say anything again about gleb).

    borodina, i love her voice, wonderful contralto depth and gorgeous wine-colored tone, but she should be forbidden to sing things like amneris and eboli — she’s not a dramatic mezzo, and her top notes are not there (the only one with a shorter top is graves). again, let me not get started on the genius who runs the met… i saw her amneris and it’s just wrong, in spite of how gorgeous her lower register sounds.
