Regie, a drop of golden sun
Our previous Regie quiz didn’t stump many of you: the opera was Der Fliegende Holländer in productions by Calixto Bieito (doghouse), Peter Konwitschny (spinning class) and Christopher Alden (corpse bride).
And now, what might this opera be?

Ok, apparently now it changed to bellowed… Boy, I’m new to this posting style…
Based on the second pic I’m going out on a limb … Don Pasquale?
I’ll give y’all a big hint.
What totally surprised me when I found out the identity of this opera was that …. that’s a MAN!!! No, really!
I dearly hope it’s just a case of bad costume, make-up and angle that makes him look …. that way.
It probably says something about the world today (or me) that if I had to guess I would have thought they were both in drag, but no, neither is.
DAS IS KEIN WEIB?!
I want it to be SEMIRAMIDE ! The first picture is the “bel raggio” aria. The second one is the Assur-Semiramide duet. The second one is either of the Arsace-Semiramide duets.
You can see in the first picture that the two “ladies” are reading their letters. It can only be Falstaff.
CLEARLY it must be Peter Grimes
