So, who won this clash of the titans? Was it Maria Callas or Dame Sutherland? Despite your warning, I have confused them!

The only one that stumped me for sure was Moedl...mainly b/c I can't stand that voice and don't listen to it enough, therefore I couldn't possibly recognize it. I'm also not very familiar with Cossotto's spin on this role, so I found that one difficult...I was wavering between Sass and Zampieri.

Good quiz, La Cieca - keep 'em coming!

but la krasavitsa Galina is ochen recognizable if you know her distinctive timbre and breath (um) control, don't ya love it? - but where did you get a recording of her singing it - I know she did it at Scottish Opera in the '70's - is there a pirate available?

It was the ease of Cossotto at the top that threw me - and Millo.......

I must admit I took Rysanek for my beloved Borkh. And thought Cossotto might be Souliotis. Excellent quiz.

If I were Helen Keller I might confuse Cossotto with Souliotis. Might.

Thank you La Cieca for a stimulating
adventure. Is it odd of me, I LOATHE Leyla Gencer's singing yet can recognise her voice instantly?

Agggh! how frustrating to know that I am not an Opera Queen......I missed Vishnevskaya - even though I pulled Brittens requiem - and Ludwig and Crespin!!! I love their tone!
I guess that makes me an Opera countess?

I would like to congratulate La Cieca - this was a GREAT quiz. Singers were not chosen in their "obvious" moments. As meremarie, for example, I did not think of Cossotto because she was shown at her softest in that phrase and I took twice for Callas for I would expect the obvious Callas-isms. And the Vishnevskaya was a great but MEAN idea...

Dear Cieca, this was a fantastic experience. I suppose I win the booby prize for getting the fewest number correct.

I knew #8 was Rysanek, but so many others eventually convinced me I was wrong. I was afraid I was going to have to change my nom de blog from rysanekfreak to pattimelt or melbatoast.

As I was listening to "Nabucco" the other day, I realized that the next Guess the Divas needs to be the opening scena of Act II. It's long enough to crowd 16 to 18 divas in there. Can't wait for the next one.

Brava, la Cieca! What fun for us and so cunningly put together. I missed all the Slavs, Cossotto, Ludwig and Millo - clueless. And very sneaky holding Scotto and Callas to the end. Hats off to MC and DS. Which one did they miss? Ever dared the Met to try one of your quizzes on the broadcast?

I knew that there was no Sass in there. I thoroughly enjoy these contests.

It was the german gals that got me on this one...i just did not hear rysanek at all in that clip -- i thought it was modl. As for vishnevskaya, well, I will assume this was not one of her finest moments. Cieca, I love these quizzes, please keep them coming!

Yes, Cieca: brava to you - an outstanding effort. I agree with Sanford, as I knew all along there was no Sass in there (I love her) - but got a good chuckle from all those who thought they heard her. Note to Alice Roberts: Just call me Helen, for I too, thought Cossotto was Souliotis. Then again, I think pretty much everything Cossotto sang was awful, so I wouldn't know her singing very well. Frankly, I thought she sounded the lightest and most "soprano-y" of all the Ladys. GOD HOW DID I MISS GENCER?? And I thought Vishna was Gwyneth - a HUGE sound. And a wiley choice for inclusion in the quiz! Just a great great effort - and tons of fun, Cieca. Please treat us again soon.

I think I was the first person to mention Vishnevskaya. This fact alone has made me prouder than when I got my degree.
