Close harmony
La Cieca thanks you all for your patience. And now, at the proper playback speed, the "Cherry Duet" as sung by Stephen Costello and Ailyn Pérez at their London recital Tuesday night. Iain Burnside is the pianist.

There's video from this recital on youtube (Le Villi duet). Stephen doesn't look anymore comfortable on a recital stage in this than he does in any of his other recitals. There's also a clip of Ailyn Perez singing Tutte Le Feste from Rigoletto at the most glacial tempo I have ever heard. She has a nice voice, though.
Thank you Sanford for your youtube referral (sp?).
My goodness they look like sweet kids. Thet ARE kids. I hope they are not exploited. They both have nice voices. But they are so young. Well, I guess I am overstating my point.
Cheers
FYI Sanford - the video you're referring to is not from yesterday's recital.
Have they recitaled together before?
Here is a link to the BBC site where you can hear Costello and Perez perform two duets and be interviewed. It was recorded Monday night, January 7, in advance of their recital for the Rosenblatt series. The clip takes a little patience to find as it is among two hours of broadcast.

Sanford,
It may be from AVA. It was added to Youtube in January of 07 though...
I think in the interview they said this was their first joint recital. This is actually about 1 hour and 5 minutes into the BBC programme.
Jonas Kaufmann was interviewd last night on BBC In Tune (9/1) and amongst his plans are Les Troyens at the ROH in 2012, as well as confirming the MET Siegmund debut. It looks as if the Gheorghiu/Kaufmann Lecouvreur will be at the ROH in 2010.
Absolutely beautiful playing from Burnside, too.
I think this audio track was from a PR appearance on the BBC a couple of days before the concert.
The recital itself was an absolute delight. These are both singers with soul and a real sense of style, as well as lovely, distinctive voices. They also seem to be delightful young people with their heads on their shoulders. Let's hope they stay that way.
My mistake - the audio track was from the concert and was much better than the radio version. Who supplied it and where's the rest of the show?
