Ouch! I saw the Tuesday performance. Parts of it are brilliant, although it feels way too long, and the second act falls apart. (Again, another reason why it is called an opera.) The Satan/Jesus "Fuck You/Talk to the Stigmata" duet is Handel-riffic.

Did Stephanie Blythe get a perm?

Looks like David Daniels has really let himself go.

Is that Harvey Keitel as Jerry Springer?

Jerry the Opera is currently playing at the city theatre in Des Moines and packing in the crowds, and the local Catholic heirarchy is urging people to stay from the opus, and some local ladies have been at the front door praying and saying their rosaries. A local reviewer said that the piece is the dirtiest play to ever have been on the boards in DM.

Yes, that was Harvey Keitel played Jerry Springer in this week's Carnegie Hall production. (Not very well, I might add.) There were many people protesting in front of Carnegie, although some people milling about out front thought that the protests were actually part of the show.
