76 Trombones Led the Big Regie
So, tell me, what is this jolly-looking opera? (UPDATE: La Cieca has added a second image from the same production.)

The previous Regie was Die Fledermaus, the first act trio for Rosalinde, Alfred and Frank.

The first thing that comes to mind is Die Walküre. (Valkyries as cheerleaders, with the smarmy-looking man up front being Wotan.)
But "76 Trombones" is obviously a clue, and I have no idea how that would tie in.
Act I Finale, the burning of Rome, from La Clemenza di Tito?
Cavalleria Rusticana, "Il Cavallo Scalpita"?
I'd guess L'elisir, with the gentleman in the suit as Belcore, some sort of corporate soldier?
I think we've finally got a real Dialogues of the Carmelites shot here...
I also can't help thinking Glass Blowers (which it is not) or Largo al factotum from Barbiere (which it could be).
And were's our last Regie answer?

St. Francois D'Assise? Those could be the birds, I guess.
Zauberflöte. Sarastro has gone corporate (also co-ed).
I agree, "L'Elisir..."
Fidelio, last act, Don Fernando and the townsfolk.
If he is Sarastro, he looks like a game show host. Is he singing "In diesen heil'gen Monty Hall'en ?
Well, obviously, it's Moses Und Aaron and the smiling man is Moses, because he just parted the Red Sea. he also realized he's a better actor than Charlton Heston. And the chorus are the Hewbrew slaves cheering him on.
I guess it is a production where one Bush (suposedly a democrat and a redeemer) takes over from another Bush
The Don talk is bullshit ;)
Carmen, the Toreador Song?
i'm with olivia ... barbiere.
Since it looks like High School Musical 2, it must be Rigoletto, scene 1, with the Duke celebrating the beauty of the women in his (basketball) court.
First instinct is to say Billy Flynn but that's far too sensible. Carmen sounds promising.
Leporello doing the Catalogue Aria?
Nixon in China
Boris, coronation scene
One time in band camp, there was this drill Sargent named Pasha Selim...
Abduction from the Seraglio
Boccanegra, the Council Chamber Scene!
Oh, all right, I'll guess Rake's Progress as usual. Have to be a winner one day.
(That was FLEDERMAUS? I was SURE it was Ariadne auf Naxos, though of course I said it was Rake's Progress.)
I agree with the person who said "L'Elisir" but I think it is Dulcamara and not Belcore. That is my entire two cents.
I'm thinking the first scene of Ballo? Though Carmen also makes sense.
I have no idea. Nor did I know that Brad Garrett had taken up opera!
If it looks like Die Fledermaus, it's....Die Fledermaus?
I'm leaning towards Figaro (Rossini's, not Mozart's) or Escamillo. It looks like a big basso show number.
"It's showtime, folks!"

Der Schauspieldirektor? Although I like Die Walkure the best, this dude does not look like he could sing Wotan.
I second the Boris Godunov guess.
Or, maybe it's Meistersinger, final scene.
I think it is the Marriage of Figaro...end of Act 1 where Figaro sings Non piu andrai
Faust - Walpurgisnacht. Satan and his flygirls.
Der Beifallführer von Nuremburg - final scene - Hans Sachs leads the crowd in praising Hans Sachs and the home team at U of N.
It's Fidelio from Gothenburg directed by Philipp Himmelmann
It looks like "Giulio Cesare", so it must be "Wozzeck". Possibly "Macbeth" with witches.
ERNANI, set in a high school in Oklahoma.
Bobby...
Bobby...
Bobby baby...
Bobby bubbi...
Robby...
Robert darling...
Bobby, we've been trying to call you.
Bobby...
Bobby...
Bobby baby...
Bobby bubbi...
Angel, I've got something to tell you.
The picture from Fledermaus made me want to see it. I have needed to see a Fledermaus where Rosalinde is a slut.
Someone beat me to it, but I'm typing it anyway. The first pic looks like Nixon, and the second looks maybe like the last act when the four of them are going to bed...?
perhaps a production of Rigoletto?
Wait a screwed up version of sondheim's Company!?!?!?!
Okay, La Cieca, I'll bite (gently of course). Company is about a commitment-phobe with wacky friends who want to see him hitched. The Duke of Mantua is commitment-phobic. On the other hand, "Ladies WHo Lunch" mentions Mahler. On the other hand, where you going? Barcelona, which could be Carmen. On the other hand, another hundred people just got off of the train or the plain or the bus maybe yesterday. What character lives in a city of strangers? What character isn't getting married today? What character could drive a person crazy? La Cieca? I have a headache now.
How disappointing - it looked just like Die Fledermaus!
The new one is Donizetti's recently unearthed Riccardo Nixon in Las Vegas
Opening scene of Lulu - Hereinspaziert in Die Menagerie!
Or the ring-master in the circus sequence of Bartered Bride
The singer looks a bit like Ferruccio Furlanetto so it could be Boris, Don Carlo or Boccanegra, or Zaccaria in Nabucco
No everyone has it wrong - the second image is obviously the quartet from Rigoletto
Sorry Rysanekfreak - you said Rigoletto first
I'm with the Rigoletto guess. The second photo indicates a quartet?
But what's with all the Bobby/Robby? Is it Roberto Devereux, with Brad Garrett as QE I in drag?
Can this be the long awaited Regie Fidelio? Top photo, either Don Pizarro's arrival in Act 1 or the Governor's arrival in Act 2. The bottom photo, Act 1 quartet "Mir ist so wunderbar."
Robert le diable?
Damn, tannengrin, you beat me to my Bobby/Roberto guess.
76 trombones...music man...Intermezzo? Ariadne auf Naxos?
Although, if it looks jolly it must be Lucia di Lammermoor.

Leper Ello for the win!
Damnit, I have been guessing Fidelio on every one of the regie quizzes ... and now I got the right opera and the wrong scene!
From now on I'm guessing Mahagonny.
Wait. THAT"S FIDELIO????
Actually, Max Zook, somehow La Cieca overlooked your comment. Yes, that is indeed Don Fernando and the "Heil sei der Tag" cheerleading squad.
You´ve got it wrong, all of you. Obviously it´s Parsifal: Klingsor and the Flower Maidens.
I will gladly hand over whatever I won, to our long-suffering Max Zook!
What ARE you all talking about...isn't it obvious? "Hollywood Squares" - the opera. The top photo is obviously Peter Marshall, and the cheerleaders are because it is Big Ten week on the "Squares." But who plays Wally Cox, or Charlie Weaver, or Rose Marie???
I'm going with Faust.
F*%& Rose Marie, Charlie Weaver, and Wally Cox! Who's going to play Paul Lynde? And speaking of potential hunkentenors... Joseph Kaiser in Branagh's Magic Flute looks pretty cute. Not as cute as Gian Marco, but still.
Obviously, it is an updated version of Die Zauberflote. The man in the suit is Sarastro singing "O Isis und Osiris" at the beginning of Act 2. The priests and priestesses will be cheering Tamino and Pagageno on as the face the challenges of Fire and Water.
Oh!! I do so like the Nixon in China guess. Only the guy is Kissinger.
