Christmas is here, bringing good Cher
While we're waiting for the restoration of Stephen Costello's ringing rendition of "O Holy Night," La Cieca thought you might like to hear another great American tenor's take on the classic carol.
Labels: camp, e major is a really high key, mp3, stephen costello

Oh My God!!! He is a pushed up baritone who has a nice voice but deplorable diction. And even though I can't see him, I know he is slouching and he should be smacked for that. Why is he being shoved down our pie holes?
And the hair!
As a gay man, I got the joancrawford/bettedavis/bettemidler/cher genes, but OH MY GOD! Why is she singing in a different key than the orchestra? And since one good (or in this case bad) turn deserves another, Stephen Costello will be recording "If I could Turn Back Time". And in all honesty, when I commented on how cute Christophe Dumaux was, I had only seen his head shot on IMG Management's website.
You know....Cher could make a killer (or killed?) Azucena.

Olivia: Cher's role is Manrico.
At first I thought it was Neil Sedaka, only she sounds more butch.
I've never been able to understand why I didn't "get" Cher (until now). At last I've finally worked it out - she's bloody awful.
Cartman's "Er Herly Nert" was much better.
A major component of the old feud between Cher and Letterman used to be his annual ridicule of her interpretation of the Cantique de Noël. Paul's imitation of her first phrase of this song was a recurring treat. I sounded like the growling of an angry dog.
Everytime we play this recording, God kills a kitten.
Andy
That is so funny. Can I steal it?
SG: sure go ahead; I stole it from Fark anyway.
Ah Cher-
Still a quarter flat, dear? That's OK! I love you anyway!
Merry Christmas!
"Olivia: Cher's role is Manrico."
I thought that was her singing "Deserto sulla terra"...It just has Bjorling on the CD cover.
