A few selections from The Opera Critic, demonstrating that great minds do not always etc. etc. That is, assuming you believe that British critics count as “great minds.”

i still think there is a difference between bitchiness and insult though – or rather cultural racism.

i do enjoy most of parterre i have to say but all this dragging up of nazis and hitler and concentration camps seems a bit out of place. but hey it is only my opinion. i defo aint grumpy and usually i give as good as i take it – i personally just found that this discussion that started on a couple of british critics went a bit out of hand.

but alas, i rest my case. on to the next entry…

I love it when people get offended by slurs against certain cultures and then proceed to take cheap shots at Germans! Cause really, Germans are fair game, right? How tedious.

  • Daniel says:

Kashania that’s a totally inaccurate summation of what actually happened.
I don’t know what made you so precious about the Germans but if you read the thread you will see that the German guy was the first to say that Australia was full of fuckwits.
Don’t get me wrong I couldn’t care less what he says or thinks- but
I’m intrigued as to why you would think its ok for Brits Yanks and Aussies to get slammed but not Germans. Lord knows they themselves have given the world enough fodder to throw at them in stupid exchanges like these for centuries to come- and they are stupid- but they can also be quite a lot of fun, especially when one see’s humorless, defensive, reactions.

Whatever happened to the old “sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me”?

  • Kashania says:

Daniel, I did not mean to endorse the German poster’s attacks on Aussies or any attacks on anyone. I just thought it was hypocritical to criticise him and then turn around and disparage Germans.
