Witchy Woman
The return of Unnatural Acts of Opera continues with another rarity, Respighi’s 1934 grand opera La fiamma. Starring in this tale of witchcraft in medieval Ravenna is American soprano Alessandra Marc as the mysterious Silvana.
According to Will Crutchfield‘s review of this live 1987 performance in the New York Times, La Marc’s “voice is full, beautiful, creamy at times. Her tone is pure: it does not have the overripe, pushed vibrato that afflicts so many singers in weighty operatic roles today. Miss Marc also has a feel for the soaring curves of Puccinian lyrical writing. She is generous with portamento, and she lets her feelings into her singing. One would not be surprised if Zinka Milanov had been one of her models.”
The cast also includes Mignon Dunn and James McCracken, with Robert Bass conducting.
Dear Devia_Fan,
I’m sorry. I request you excuse my. I never wanted offend you. I apologize confuse you.
What I said on Devia_Fan really went directed to deviafan. Again I apologize confuse you.
Sincerely,
Onegin65
Dear all,
I cannot allow that deviafan continues defaming and accusing my of whom I haven’t done. Simply accuses me because my alias is just as the company copyright holder – ByOnegin S.L. – that has sent many DMCA who claimed infringement in many accounts in Youtube.
My account onegin65 has cancelled for these DMCA who claimed infringement from ByOnegin S.L. and Opera Australia Limited, also in my account oneguin65 have disabled several videos. If you don’t know me it‘s enough that your search in eMule, Youtube, OperaShare, Google or Yahoo and you will find the hundreds of private videos that I have been spreading for free during years.
I’m not an agent nor owner of any company, I’m not owner of any copyright and I’m not reported nothing to Youtube. I’m only a opera fan.
deviafan is Russian and Russia is a dictatorship where it’s possible accused people without proof. Luckily for many years Spain is a democracy as the USA and defamations they aren’t have been allowed
All the best from Madrid, specially to La Cieca
Okay lets get this straight! Here and now. I am really tired of all this Bull. Onegin, I am not sure what your orignal post was, you deleted it, but I assume that is was along the same lines as your second post.
Okay let’s get this straight! Here and now. I am really tired of all this BULL. Onegin, I am not sure what your original post was, you deleted it, but I assume that is was along the same lines as your second post.
Here are the details that lead me to believe that Onegin65 was behind the suspensions:
1. I posted over 440 videos on youtube, during that time I posted clips of Caballe in Norma from Madrid, and also clips of Caballe in Maria Stuarda from Barcelona. These clips were uploaded by Onegin65 also (which I thought was great because he had much better quality videos than I) I did not delete my clips; because there were so many postings, I thought well there are room for more. I also posted clips of many, many, many other videos.
2.When my account was closed youtube sent me a email, probably the same sent to La Cieca, the videos that were targeted… out of 440 videos, the very same Caballe clips from Norma and Maria, hmmm, seems like a fairly large coincidence? And the person who was accusing me was an Onegin? I mean come on; I don’t have to be a really bright gay man to know when 1 + 1 = 2
I still would have never publicaly announced my story, but I then uncovered more… Gabba02, the videos that lead to his account suspension were items that he posted duplicate to Onegin, and from what I was told Memarks also. Then I was informed, from a very relaible source that Onegin S L had received an international copywrite, we are still not sure what the copywrite was for, videos, or whatever?
So this is the information that led to my posting. I never deceived anyone into thinking it was Onegin, I was simply putting the facts together and presenting them to the community.
As I said the first time, I never meant to cause any defamation and certainly never meant to provoke an attack. If I was wrong (which I still don’t think I am) I am sorry.
And to devia_fan I am sorry that you were drug into this battle, I didn’t know there was another deviafan sn on this blog or I would have used a different name, and yes I will retire this sn for that reason. To you I sincerely apologize. Although, I don’t think that I mislead you in any way, I think my conclusion was fairly precise.
So now it is up to everyone to come to whatever viewpoint they wish!
I hope the best for Onegin and everyone on youtube, and I hope that opera will still flourish on the site! So that people can enjoy and learn from all these wonderful documents, that are sometimes entirely too rare.
Devia_fan said he thought be knew me but didn’t want to use my name, I am happy to introduce myself to the group…
Best wishes,
Dillon
Hi there,
deviafan has mentioned me a few times, we have been in correspondence and he has alerted me to this thread. I thought I could offer my view as to what has been going on here.
There is no doubt in my mind that the person who posts videos on youtube under the name Onegin65 and Oneguin65 is the person suspending so many accounts in the last week or so.
He is responsible for suspending the accounts of Gabba02, mekarts, loganfacincy26, and I know he has removed several videos from pdefeeo.
It is true that Onegin65 himself has had his account suspended, and he has had it reinstated many times. The reason his account is suspended is because of complaints by real companies claiming copyright violation for commercially available videos, presumably from the Australian company he mentions. He had my sympathies when this was happening, as I did not want to see so many opera videos disappear. I even wrote to him a long time ago to warn him that some of his videos were in risk of being removed because they had been removed from my own account before.
I had no gripe against Onegin65 before this happened, I enjoyed his videos and had favourited many of them.
So I take no pleasure in telling everyone what this man has done.
What I believe has happened is that in attempting to get his account restored, Onegin65 has managed to get hold of an electronic signature which enabled him to counter all copyright claims. Any time a video was removed and his account suspended, he sent a counter-claim and within weeks his account was restored and his videos reinstated. It didn’t take long, though, before Onegin realized the power this gave him. Not only could he reinstate his own videos, he could actually remove the videos of his “rivals”.
You see, the way copyright works on youtube is rather unsophisticated. No more than a *claim* of copyright violation is needed to have videos removed and the account suspended. All that is needed along with this claim is a physical or electronic signature. But similarly, if no more than a signature is needed for suspending videos, so is it only needed for reinstating them.
The name that Onegin is using “ByOnegin S.L” was taken out as a copyright by him. I discovered this simply by googling the phrase. I happened upon his website which you can see for yourself:
byoneginsl.wordpress.com
This website links to all his youtube videos and has been up for as long as his account was first suspended. Thus, when he was first suspended, he took out this copyright in order to have an electronic signature in a “company” name and not his own personal name (thus remaining anonymous) and enabling him to restore his account. All emails in recent weeks suspending opera videos have had attached this company name.
I suspect there will be more suspensions in the future as Onegin’s meglomania seems to hold no bounds.
You may think, “why would Onegin be so stupid as to take out copyright on a name that gives away his identity if he was going to do this?”
Answer: Simple, this wasn’t originally his intention. He took it out simply to restore his own account and only *after* did the idea occur to him to suspend his “rivals”.
deviafan is right in highlighting that the videos removed are ones Onegin himself has uploaded in some form, either on youtube or emule.
Don’t ask me why Onegin is acting this way, but there is no doubt that he is. I am very sad for it as it is destruction of much beauty, but there is nothing to be done except to let as many people know as possible what is happening.
I hope I have shed some light. Thanks for reading.
Gabba is right. I can’t believe after all the hard work that people have put into building up the opera community on YouTube that Onegin would go behind them and destroy so much of it. I sincerely hope that somehow you all can have Onegin banned entirely from YouTube.
Back to the great La Cieca again (thanks for wonderful content) after a (probably final) visit to YouTube where it appears that almost all opera has now gone – how shortsighted, particularly since you can find many television shows and popular music videos if you search, and young people do, just listen to them talking about it. I can’t imagine what the YouTube guys in charge thought they were doing – offered royalties by music companies they chose to turn that down. Now we have a major future popular WW2 sharing format increasingly devoid of the classical side of musical culture. Where do the kids today have a chance to broaden their horizons? Sad new world!
