The Bartered Bra?
Is it just me, or is Lucia Popp‘s left nipple peeking out at us?

Oh how happy I am to get another Popp clip on YouTube!
As far as her nipple, first I went “maybe,” then I went “no way, just a wrinkle,” then the ‘wrinkle’ kept appearing in the same place as she moved and shifted, and it was well defined, so… my vote is yes, it’s a nipple.
And btw, I’m happy without the ‘potential’ nipple. This artist is one of my first faves. Unique sound and a charming artist.
I just found out that Erika Sunnegardh is singing Turandot tonight, replacing Andrea Gruber. Act 2 is about to start.

To nipple or not to nipple…that is the question.
Anyone else find this clip a bit unfortunate as it is in German and not in Popp’s native Czech?
According to one on-line source (caution: wikipedia) she (like Gruberová*) was Slovak and not Czech after all, her real name was Lucia Poppová and not Lucie as it would be in Czech IINM.
Just being pedantic.
*okay, Hungarian/German/Slovak
I’m with you baryton francais- she was one of my first godesses too. I still miss her- she was wonderful.
Not pedantic at all, Michael. Slovaks and Czechs take their nationalities very seriously. I witnessed once an autograph seeker mention to Edita Gruberova that she was Czech, and she very quickly and seriously corrected him: “Slovak, not Czech.”
Touché, Gruberova!
Totally way off-topic:
