Is this the face of Opera Chic?
Intrepid girl reporter Opera Chic has lead the blogosphere in her coverage of the recent Alagnadammerung. But who is this mysterious Opera Chic? An important piece of evidence has made its way into the greedy mitts of La Cieca: soon the truth may be told.
Here we see a photograph of the poster for tonight's performance of Aida at La Scala:
This photo was published on Opera Chic's site, and we can assume it was taken with Opera Chic's very own digital camera. Now, cher public, La Cieca asks you to fix your gaze on the lower right-hand corner of the photo, just past the "Y" in "Chailly." The keen eye will discern a reflection in the glass covering the poster:
Aha! Opera Chic has carelessly allowed "her" reflection to appear in the photo! And so we see that Opera Chic is, in fact, no "chick" at all, but rather a dignified-looking middle-aged man with a mustache and full beard. La Cieca could swear she knows this fellow, or at least she has seen his picture before. Oh, this is just so infuriating!
Oh, yes, yes, now, I have it! Now I know where I've seen that face before:
Oh. Well. Perhaps we should wait for further facts before we make a decision on Opera Chic's identity; purely for confirmation, you know.

Could we talk about other things instead....Alagna got his fifteen-minutes, now, could we move on, please?
My guess is that Opera Chic is a very talented 16-year-old, and that in due course of time her style will mature and she will slowly drop all the irritating stylistic artifices that make her writing so insufferable. As for the mistranslation and creative editing of the Bolle interview, she gets voted off the island of good blogging.
I believe your culprit is this image instead, dear Cieca:

Heaven, that Opera Chic is ubiquitous!
16:28 14Dec06 RTRS-REFILE-Rebel tenor holds own show outside La Scala
MILAN, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Top tenor Roberto Alagna, who
stormed off the stage at Milan's La Scala this week after he was
booed in mid-performance, staged his own show outside the famed
opera house on Thursday as the show went on inside without him.
Alagna, who had said he would sue the theatre if they did
not let him return, arrived in Piazza della Scala shortly before
Verdi's "Aida" was due to start and began singing before a crowd
of onlookers and photographers.
Looking up at La Scala, the French-born tenor, hailed by
some critics as the new Pavarotti, sang a poignant passage from
Puccini's Madame Butterfly containing the words: "Farewell,
flowered sanctuary of happiness and love."
He took a photograph of the theatre with his mobile
telephone. "I came to take a souvenir, my last happy memory of
La Scala because I don't know when I will see it again," he was
quoted as saying by the ANSA news agency.
Alagna, 43, walked off Franco Zeffirelli's lavish production
of Aida on Sunday night after a small section of the audience
heckled him as he was singing an aria.
The incident, a first in the 230-year history of La Scala,
forced a costumeless substitute to step in and carry on singing
as some in the audience shouted "Shame on you!". Organisers
later apologised to the public.
Alagna said he had told La Scala he was ready to return to
the show but the opera house had turned him down for breach of
contract. Thursday's performance of Aida was the first since
Sunday's dramatic episode.
Alagna told reporters outside the theatre that his lawyers
had already begun proceedings against La Scala, but said he was
also sorry at the way things had turned out.
"I dearly loved this theatre and its audience, I cancelled a
very important production at Covent Garden to come here but I
came with great joy," he said.
Okay, now that is just sad. and I don't mean sad like Freni singing Mimi sad, I mean like Fleming singing Norma sad.
baritenor, how can you knock one of the greatest Mimis of the twentieth century (Freni) and utter her name in the same sentence with Phlegmming. Freni was one of the most incredible Mimis of her the second half of the twentieth century along with Scotto, De Los Angeles and Stratas. Did you ever actually see her do the role before she was sixty years old. I think she last did it at the MET in 1988 with Kleiber conducting with Pavarotti for a one night special.
BWAHAHA! That was awesome. Thanks for the laugh! I needed it after this afternoon's trying rehearsal...
