There are so many, many times when I wish Work, School and Rehearsal did not exist. This is one of them.

Whatever happened to long gloves? Rise wears them so beautifully.

some advice on how to "save" these performances when you are at work, school or rehearsal. I have my sirius receiver hooked up to the stereo system. I have hooked up a dvd recorder to a vhs which is hooked up to the stereo tape output. (you have to run the dvd recorder through the vhs recorder in order to get a picture signal or the dvd recorder will not record with no picture signal. the vhs blue screen provides the video signal. I tried to run the dvd audio directly from the receiver and got "no signal" on the dvd recorder even though the audio ran through. but with the blue screen from the vhs recorder you have a video signal- strange but true)I then leave the volume down on my receiver. leave the sirius unit on and set the timer on the dvd recorder. Later on at my leisure I transfer these performances to CD. I was using DVD+RW but ran into too many problems so now I use the DVD+R one time discs and just store them or dispose of them after transferring to CD. The RW discs tended tof ail too often, especially after the second or third use.

Some DVD recorders will record audio without a video signal - mine does (an LG with a hard drive).

The hookup to a recorder is great, provided you have the proper radio hardware. For those of us with a web-based Sirius subscription, it doesn't work (I am tempted to treat myself to one of those fabulous Stilettos - can anyone tell me if they're worth it?).

Also (another desperate cri de coeur), can anyone tell me if there are programs that allow you to schedule audio captures, much like programming a VR?

Last question: when I listen to Sirius at home, I have to click on those annoying pop-ups every 90 minutes to confirm I am still alive, or my stream is cut off. However, here at work I don't have to do it, so I blithely left for a long lunch today, for example, and when I came back Audacity was still capturing the Don Giovanni broadcast, sans popups. How can I abort the popups on my home computer, mes chers?

I use Total Recorder on my PC. I just leave Sirius running and use Total Recorder's scheduler to set up for recording. Basically, you'll end up with an MP3 file that you can edit to your liking later (also using Total Recorder).

Total Recorder has a very reasonable registration fee -- and the results are well worth it.

Dear mrsfrickawotan, thanks! I just checked the TR page, and it is indeed a compelling product. I'll try the trial version over the weekend. It sounds like you never get the "Are you still listening?" popups. What, pray, is your secret? (I hate having to constantly interact with the site lest the service I am paying for be suspended.)

Why rebroadcast that awful DON PASQUALE??If the Met wanted to reboradcast one, take the 1956 Corena/Peters/Valetti/Guarrera b'dcast. It's a much better sung and conducted performance.

Oh, other Pasquales will reappear. I think this week's Aida is their third different broadcast on Sirius. Just enjoy the collecting and comparing, even of bad shows like last season's DP - and the anticipation. :-)

One thing to remember if you are recording from your PC is that every 90 minutes, the webcast of Sirius requires you to click on a box to indicate you are still listening. If you don't, it cuts off. I learned this the hard way on the opening night of Butterfly when I lost everything after the 1st act! I often prefer to record the whole thing, transfer to CD and then listen to it (on better speakers than on the PC) at my leisure. But I have to check in every 90 minutes for the click! I use the "quick record" feature on Replay Radio 5.2.

What is the lore behind that bookcover photo for Rise's biography? The strapless gown seems about to slide somewhere interesting? She did have nice cleavage though in her glory days. What did Bing know?

In case anyone is still reading this thread: in order to have your Sirius stream unimpeded by popups, a good old popup blocker will do the trick! I tested it last night and never got cut off during the 3+ hours I listened to Sirius.
