operas seem to be broadcast once every three hours, starting at 6am, 9am, noon, 3pm, etc. this may not be a rule but seems to have been the case for the past few days. I find that by hooking up a vcr with line inputs to my stereo system I can put on a six hour tape and get two broadcasts. than keep the ones I want by transferring them to cd. it’s not perfect but I can get things I want as long as the timer works and other little tricks of the gods do not interfere.

I have a blind friend who tapes EXCLUSIVELY on VHS — then transfers to CD. He uses 8-hour tapes. They’re harder to find — but well worth the search.

    squinted –

I’m still working on the 3 day trial, although I intend to sign up today. Whatever its warts, this is too good to pass up. In any case, at least with the trial membership, you go to the Sirius website and click on listen. A smaller screen comes up, in which you log in. (There’s a scrambled word, among other things.) On that same screen a menu comes up, where you choose music, then classical, then met opera broadcasts. The information about what you’re listening to appears in the upper left hand corner. (It takes a minute, but it does.) Information on what you’ve most recently listened to appears in the upper right corner. Especially with the fillers, you don’t always get the artist, often just the composer and piece. But the operas have always had the title, conductor, and cast.

I’m using IE; I don’t know about other browsers. And, again, I don’t know if this will change when I sign on for the full service. Will let you know.

‘Wish I had the same luck. I can’t log-in. It keeps telling me that my password is wrong — even though I’ve verified it several times. Maybe the “free-trial” people can log in easier than those who bought the full year. Hopefully this will all be sorted out soon. Happy listening to you!
Meanwhile I’ll just use my not-so-trustworthy antennae.

Not to insult your intelligence, but did you cut and paste your password from the e-mail? It’s very hard to tell the 0s and Os apart, as well as the 1s and ls.

I’ll try…but I’m pretty sure it’s the same. I’ll let you know if it works. If it does, there’s a special place for you in heaven!

  • operaman50 says:

Nope, sorry. The technician told me that if I can log-in to MY ACCOUNT — and CAN’T log-in to “Listen” with the same info — then something’s wrong at SIRIUS. Thanks anyway!

Bill – I removed your comment from yesterday (the one with the long string of $$$) — not because of the content but rather because it was screwing up the formatting of the parterre.com page. Please feel free to comment as you like — just avoid the extremely long unbroken character strings.

Hmmm. La Cieca can’t handle repetitive orgasms ?
