Which star canceled his Met season due to a very “committed” performance… of his own personal Mad Scene?

You’re very welcome, Interpolator, though your assumption that I’m a working singer is unfortunetly untrue. I’m still in training, actually, as a Baritone.

But I can sympithize with, as I call it “Stage door pat on the back”: I’ve been doing Musical theatre and Operetta since I was a kid. There have been plenty of times when I’ve given a bad performance, and nobody will tell me it stunk but my Director. But unless he or she is a seasoned Opera-goer, the audience member telling you you were great often has “theatre goggles” on and will think you’re great wheather you are or not.

But I stick by my guns, Interpolator: The two videos I own of you singing left me with a very positive impression, as did the times I’ve heard you on the Met Broadcast and the single time I saw you live (as Ferrando.)

Back to the subject at hand….not a “star”in my book but why has Julien Robbins been replaced in all of his end of season performances????

Sooo…is Shicoff (whose work I admire immensely) singing the last Luisa as scheduled?
I sure hope he ISN’T the “mad scene canceller”.

  • Just Another Tenor says:

Shicoff did just cancel tonight’s Luisa… Villa is going on. That gives Shicoff 1/2 perofrmance, Villa 5 1/2.
That must be quite a nice paycheck Mr Villa was not expecting for this season. Talk about an early Christmas!
