La Cieca hears that performances of Medea featuring Anna Caterina Antonacci this summer at the Chatelet will be taped for eventual DVD release. The production is from Toulouse, where la Antonacci won rapturous reviews for her first incarnation of Cherubini's antiheroine.

that's great news about the medea taping. with luck, paris opera will be moved to uncork some of the video treasures in its cellar, like the 1988 "robert le diable" with ramey and june anderson, or the 1980 "carmen" with berganza and domingo. maybe a little organized online clamor would help...
I will attend the premiere. A few days later, in the same theater, la Rondine with Angela Gheorghiu will be videotaped too. The Châtelet is not the Paris Opera. There is absolutely no connection between the filmed performances of nowadays and the telecast operas from the 1980s.
